Crappy Shooting - It’s Contagious!

February 20th, 2008 · 14 Comments

Game 53: Feb 19, 2008. Houston 93 at Cleveland 85 (loss)

FG            FG%        3P         3P%          FT       FT%

5-15         .333        1-4        .250          5-6      .833

Psst…. Hey Larry, the trade deadline is February 21st. You’re not supposed to shoot crappy until AFTER the trade deadline passes. Danny Ferry is actively working on a new trade with the Dallas Mavericks. According to my sources, it would be a two player deal as outlined below:

Cavaliers get: Keith Van Horn plus the Mavs first round draft pick from 1993.

KVH
.

Mavericks get: Larry Hughes plus an appearance from Bizarro Larry Hughes once every 12 games. And if the Mavericks are willing to do the deal in the next 12 hours, they will also receive Dajuan Wagner’s colon as a special bonus!

Larry trade
.

Mark Cuban, don’t let tonight’s game deter you from making this trade! The Cavs were just a little rusty after the All-Star layoff. And yes, Larry shot poorly tonight, but so did everyone on the Cavs team!

Larry: 33%
LeBron: 39%
Gooden: 30%
Boobie: 20%
Donyell: 33%
Devin: 33%

Give Larry a break. He had to travel back from New Orleans on Monday and this was after finding out at the last minute that he was snubbed from the All-Star team. We’ve already proven that Larry Hughes is better than Jason Kidd, so if you can pull the trigger on this trade, you’d effectively land TWO Jason Kidds for the Mavericks.

Hughes and Kidd

    PS
I just read the Windhorst column from tonight and I agree with him 100% on his comment:

If you are the Cavs, I think you may have to attempt to take a big swing when you assets are more valuable, which is next summer and next season. They have enough expirings to make big-time deals at that time. Just making a move to add a piece that doesn’t exactly put you over the top but harms your long-term flexibility is a tough call. I know most fans want something and they’ll rip Danny Ferry if he doesn’t get it. I know LeBron says he wants help now. But these are tough calls, nothing is a slam dunk.

We just don’t have much to offer for a trade, so let’s not make this even worse!

I was sad that the Cavs lost but I knew you ‘d have something to crack me up. I wasn’t disappointed! Please, somebody, anybody take Larry Hughes, we’ll even make it a take one, get two for free deal. Ok, we have a winner, please wrap Eric Snow and Donyell Marshall and package them with Hughes in a box before somebody changes his mind.

Sorry guys, not going to happen. God willing, Larry will play well enough that next year somebody will be willing to pay something for him.

Cripes, I hope that if we make the NBA Finals that Houston isn’t waiting for us. Now there’s two teams in the West that are guaranteed to own our asses in the playoffs. Phoenix, Dallas, Lakers, Jazz, bring ‘em on.

after his last few successes, as a born and raised cleveland fan, i got a little excited!

and when i read this article i got even more excited!!!

“I feel like personally we can continue what we’re doing and what I was doing,” Hughes said. “I’m shooting the ball with confidence and taking good shots. I’m hitting a couple early and getting in a rhythm throughout the game.”

but the truth still remains…. larry hughes is the master of disaster.

I would be willing to trade Larry for nothing. The Cavs are worse when he is on the floor. He fouled McGrady 5 feet beyond the three point line and then got a technical complaining about it. Larry is no longer just keeping us from scoring, he has moved on to COSTING the team points. Last night, I felt bad for Lebron. You could see the frustration. After getting the opportunity to have Kidd and Howard grab his no-look bullet passes mid-stride, he was forced to deal with Marshall’s hands of steel. After fantastic outside shooting, he was force to watch Gooden and Hughes brick, and on top of that he gets punched in the face, and knocked to the floor without a whistle. I don’t blame him for giving up half-way through the game. Danny should be fired for not bringing in a single decent player since getting Lebron.

(it was taking all day for the host to moderate my comment so I’m posting it without the B word)

Shoot boobie shoot, why aren’t you complaining about Boobie last night? But once again you are all on Larry’s nuts! Get a life!

  • 8 J Beanie // Feb 20, 2008 at 10:21 am

For that trade to work, Dallas is going to have to give Popeye Jones too.

  • 9 Gmoney // Feb 20, 2008 at 12:07 pm

I would take Roy Tarpley at this point…and the exhumed corpses of Len Bias and/or Reggie Lewis.

What can I say, Larry Hughes brings out the tastelessness in me.

Bill, that expression isn’t used the way you think it is used. Why is a guy who is all on Larry’s nuts (see what I did there Bill) spending so much time on a website devoted to knocking Larry Hughes? Why would you expect to see somebody knocking Boobie on a website dedicated to knocking Larry Huges? If it makes you feel better Boobie shot like crap, as did the rest of the team. Boobie however, did not cost the Cavs four points in one possession due to shear idiocy like your boyfriend did. Also, Boobie hasn’t been playing for nine years and he isn’t starting so you will excuse me if I judge his performance by a different standard. My life is enriched by watching the Cavs and especially by getting on this website to see the hilarious stuff the author writes.

Check out Larry Hughes’ comment on potential trades for the cavs:

“I’m not looking for anybody to come in and save us,” guard Larry Hughes said. “We have a good team now.”

… it’s like Danny Ferry doesn’t have the heart to tell him the truth

  • 12 Melvin // Feb 20, 2008 at 10:00 pm

Are you sure you want to get Van Horn?

  • 13 KC // Feb 20, 2008 at 10:48 pm

You’re appealing to Danny Ferry over the issue of Larry Hughes? Danny Ferry shares a common bond with Larry - during Danny’s playing days he saddled the Cavs for years receiving big salary for worse performance than Larry (and the Cavs couldn’t unload him). Given the common bond, Danny probably loves the guy!

  • 14 clefan // Feb 20, 2008 at 11:03 pm

Hell yea I want KVH! Sure he hasn’t played in 10 years, but come on, we’re only giving up Hughes and Dajuan Wagner’s colon!
