David Stern is always blabbing about how global the NBA is, but I wasn’t expecting that to hold true for a niche NBA site. Well, I was wrong! The numbers really surprised me, so I thought you might be interested in seeing seeing how global Larry Hughes’ bad shooting really is!
Some of my site stats for the last 30 days:
- Visitors came from 119 countries on 6 continents.
- 78% of visitors were from the US (I’m not disclosing the actual US traffic numbers).
- Several thousand visitors from Germany where there is a huge NBA following and even German sites dedicated to the Cavs.
- 1,935 visitors from South Korea. There are some great NBA sites in Korea and while I’m not entirely familiar with Korean emoticons, judging from this page, I think they dig this site.
- 1,623 visitors from Poland. This is a great Polish NBA site that linked to me last month.
- 1,585 visitors from Australia, and several of my active commenters are Aussies.
- 1,491 visitors from the Philippines, a HUGE basketball country. You gotta love any league that has a team named ”Purefoods Tender Juicy Giants“.
- 597 visitors from Lithuania, birthplace of our our own Zydrunas Ilgauskas, plus NBA greats such as Arvydas Sabonis and Sarunas Marciulionis.
- 101 visitors from Israel
In addition to a lot of mainstream NBA markets, check out some of the other countries I’ve had traffic from. It’s both reassuring and baffling as to why people from these countries would be interested in Larry Hughes, but I love it.
- 79 visitors from Iceland
- 28 visitors from Saudi Arabia
- 23 visitors from Fiji. (Get off the internet, you are in Fiji!)
- 10 visitors from Mongolia. I freaking love that someone in Mongolia might be reading this!
- 3 visitors from Algeria
- 2 visitors from Ghana
- 1 visitor from Malawi
- 1 visitor from Ethiopia
- 1 visitor from Uzbekistan
Update: Thanks to my global readers for posting links in the comments section. I love checking out Cavs and NBA sites from around the world.

Hi, I’m a Korean NBA fan, and a member of NBA Mania.
(But since I’m in France now, your server will recognize me as a French…)
Thanks for introducing our site. Your blog is one of our favorite NBA humour page. We already have some (unauthorized) translations of your postings.

6 Damon_Jones_is_my_favorite. // Feb 18, 2008 at 7:29 am
Did anyone notice that Jason Kidd was going out of his way to pass the ball to Lebron last night? -and then how depressed he seemed when Lebron continued the pass to D.Howard (giving Kidd the hockey assist instead)
Also, can anyone in China help me get a hold of Damon’s shoes?

LH’s poor play is the ultimate Butterfly Effect.
EX:
LH blows a layup in at the Q, a kitten is killed in Norway.
LH shoots a contested 3 in Detroit, a fan bites threw their tongue in China.
LH has a bad pass turnover which leads to fast break, someone hangs themself in South Africa.
I am starting to believe that Larry’s poor performance is causing global warming as well.
8 Goirish24 // Feb 18, 2008 at 8:53 am
I really disappointed today. I expected to log on and catch the stats of Larry Hughes’ performance in the All-Star game. Maybe I am just logging on too early this morning???
Can someone please help me and let me know how he did?

Hi! I’m from Philippines… I’m one of those Filipinos who read your blog after a Cavs game. I’m entertained very much. Just one thing, I suggest you have to stop dealing with Kidd, the Mavs getting closer to him now. Try to deal with Ron Artest. He can be a good backup with LBJ…

EVERYONE LISTEN UP!!!!!!!! Go to the link for the polish site and scroll down till you find the pic of Andrei Kirilinko or however the hell you spell his name. That picture is classic!! I can’t believer that the site would even put that up there.
13 clefan // Feb 18, 2008 at 10:46 am
I was going to link to those Andrei Kirilinko photos when the story broke, but it seemed like other bloggers had given it good coverage. But for those of you that haven’t seen them, here are the rest!

Big O,
Feel free to do as many unauthorized translations as you want! Those links you provided are hilarious. And I love the “Onion Head” icons… I had to add those to the post.
If you ever see great Cavs articles or discussions on Korean sites, please send them my way.

Cleveland Fan,
Before the San Antonio game someone suggested reading your blog in the “comments” section of Poundingtherock.com (an unofficial Spurs site). There, they said: “Hey, check up this blog (yours), it’s hilarious!!!”
Skeptic as I was to visit “Pounding…” in the first place, I came to “Hey Larry…”. I read the entire 15 pages at once. Although the very first 8 aren’t as wit and ironic as you got along the way, I truly appreciated them. Of course, I’m now inviting everyone I know who is a fan of the NBA to enjoy your site.
Thank you very much to you, and thanks to Larry for NOT stop taking so many bad shots and thanks to your GM for being the #2 worst in the NBA (Isaiah is unbeatable).
Ary, from Buenos Aires, Argentina (only Luis Scola -a current Rocket- is from our city, all the other argentine NBA players were born outside the big city)

Am I the only spanish visiting this f**king site?
The worst thing is that I’m not a cavs fan, but I like basketball blogs who speaks their truth with that grace (yours and arenas my favourite ones)

I am from Hong Kong. Actually, I am a fan of Larry Hughes……But still, I enjoy logging on to your website everyday because I love your sense of humour. Speaking of humour, I really like “The comparison of Hughes & Kidd” you put up recently. [lol] Keep it up!

You need more hits from China, the next NBA market. Next time I’m in China I’ll change the homepages of the local team’s computers to this website like I didn’t when I was in S. Korea. With the censorship in China it would read this site as “HeyLarryHughesPleaseTakManyShots”

hey, i’m from the philippines (perhaps you can tell by the name. LOL.) and i religiously follow your site especially after a cavs game to see how our very dear player with a shooting defect Larry Hughes did. the first time i read your blog it gave me a good laugh from all the witty insults. i’m really looking forward to 30 more games, and hopefully more if the cavs make the playoffs. keep up the good work! i hope more and more people know about your little site here.
32 Coymax // Feb 19, 2008 at 6:57 am
heLLuu.. people love basketball here in the phils.. About larry i think he is not the one who gonna help or contribute more in the cavs along wit LJ.. LH and LJ are not good chemistry.. I think they should get Ron Artest, he is a very good perimeter defender and his offensiveness in the court is exceptional.. He gives more defensive present in the court along with LJ..
I like cavs but Cetics rules…hehehe..

I’m betting we are going to see a Bizzaro Larry sighting tonight at the Q…wait a min, prolly not.

I get tons of readers from Canada and I appreciate you chiming in! But I’d rather not disclose the actual traffic numbers as it is quite large and I’m not ready to open up all of my stats just yet.

Hi, I’m from Germany and the author of the German Cavs-Blog you linked to. Thanks for doing so.
As you surely recognized, i put you into my blogroll and also wrote a post about your page - it’s always great fun to read your articles/ posts. Keep up your good work! You deserve every single klick you have!
I’ have to admit that i’m kind of surprised, you had so many klicks from Germany. Unfortunately, the nba doesn’t have a fanbase as large as you write, and espacially the cavs are not popular at all - nonetheless I try my my best to represent this great team as well as possible - as Germany’s only Cavs-Writer xD ^^
But it’s good to hear, there are some visitors from Germany, maybe here are more hidden Fans than expected…
Btw: I’m sure, actually, Larry ist the best known cavs-player in the world. forget about LeBron - during the next olympic games China will be Larry-land ^^

Seeing as I’m Finnish and probably know my larryhugheses from my rickydavises better than many fans in the US, I personally don’t see anything weird about people from Fiji or Iceland giving a toss about Larry Hughes.
In fact, I’d be willing to bet you can find die-hard Cavs fans to rival the most rabid supporter at Quicken Loans Arena in some of those places.
