If you didn’t see the game tonight but you saw the box score, you might think that Larry Hughes had a totally crappy game. But if you watched the game, you saw that Larry played with a lot of energy, was aggressive getting to the hoop, had some nice assists, and he just sucks at shooting the basketball.
If it wasn’t for the 18% shooting, he had a pretty decent game! I know that’s like saying Derek Anderson had a good game against the Bengals in week 16… except for the 4 interceptions. But Larry played hard tonight. And if he keeps playing with that kind of intensity, I think he could make a huge contribution to some other team in the NBA. Isiah Thomas, you know you want him.
Of course, the real story of the game tonight was LeBron James. Note to opposing fans: DO NOT TAUNT HAPPY FUN LEBRON. Just don’t do it. Ask Chris Bosh’s girlfriend. Ask the Portland fans tonight. Ask the Portland rim that he rocked on that first quarter dunk.
If only Larry responded in similar fashion…

Since the Cavs are stuck with a U$13 million-a-year disaster, Mike Brown should have a clue by now - if Larry misses two in a row, it’s time to pull him out before he does further damage-to his own team of course. Hughes idea of redeeming himself after a dumb shot is to take an even dumber shot in the next possession. Some people like to cite Hughes 22 points a night while with the Wizards but they forgot he barely shot 40% in a free-wheeling offense that got him a lot of gimme baskets. They also forgot that Wizards never really went deep in the play-offs during his time there.

As a Blazer fan, attending tonight’s game, I was rooting for Larry to huck as many “shots” as possible. My favorite “shot” of Larry’s was attempted from near the top of the 3-point arc. The shot was a laser that never even rose above the rim. LeBron mitigated Bizarro Larry Hughes’ failure to show with his phenomenal play in the final four minutes; however, the Blazers really blew the game on their 2nd to last possession. Larry has clearly regressed. Maybe he left his J.J. Redick video in Cleveland? Courier? Anyone?

What’s Larry making now, about $125,000 per actual field goal?

Although Larry wasn’t finishing at the rim last night on his attacks, it was nice to see him at least go to the basket at first…. then I don’t know what happened.
I guess he realized he wasn’t being himself, he probably told himself, “I’ve just gotta be me!” before proceeding to jack it up with abandon.
It’s really pretty simple… this guy has an insatiable lust for launching dagger jumpers into the face of the opposition. That loud CLANK he hears when those daggers smack into the front of the rim is what drives him to shoot the next brick.
Shooting bricks is like heroin for Larry, he can go a game, or two, or three, without shooting up, but eventually the withdrawl becomes too intense, eventually he can’t fight it any more… and the bricking splurge ensues.

Will the Cavs just leave him out on the west coast???
Everytime he shoots the ball i hear the Whammy sound clip from Press You Luck…

Everyone here just hates on Larry Hughes…
Why not be positive?
For example Hughes leads the league in ratio of tattoos to functioning brain cells,
Leads the league in overall suckiness,
and leads the league in wasted salary dollars.
Why can’t we point out the positives on this site? For instance…Larry Hughes has not “killed” aprox 55 kittens this year, he has only helped them move on to a better place. Lets keep it positive!!!

Larald Hughes did not play in the fourth quarter. (Mike Brown assists.)

“Ask the Portland rim…”
That’s classic…
Everyone knows there’s no way the Cavs can get rid of Hughs until 2009 when his contract expires. No team will touch that contract unless it’s expiring.
So how do we get Lebron some help?
I proposed Newble and Brown for Smith and Atkins. I am surprised no one mentioned this. It works in salary, and it makes sense for both parties.
I already wrote Henry at Truehoops hoping he can explore this. I think it makes sense?
Any thoughts? Check my site for the reasons. Thanks keep up the good work.

When Kitten Killer Larry threw the alley-oop pass to LBJ early in the first quarter, I knew the Cavs would win. Why? Because, our PG actually had an assist. Those have been less common than 50% shooting from KKL.
Also, has anyone figured out why KKL wears all that leg warmer and arm sleeve stuff? Is it because he is finally embarrassed of all his tattoos or is he just trying to disguise himself fan an NBDL team that is trying to sign him as their insurance shooting guard?

I just noticed that on the NBA front page of Yahoo! Sports, Larry is listed as one of three current “hot” fantasy players. Listed as the first reason for his “hot” play of late is 40.5% field goal shooting. Case in point for lowering expectations. Whose not “hot”? Apparently Chris Paul isn’t because he’s shooting 41.7% lately.

Aside from Kenny Smith and a few others, the supposed “experts” from yahoo are all idiots.

I’m almost at the point where I laugh every time he pulls up for a jumper. And if by some random chance he makes it, I laugh maniacally.

So… LeBron is out, Larry Hughes plays WELL (shock) and they lose to SEATTLE?
Why don’t the Cavs just let Lebron play 5 on 1 basketball? He’d probably rack up more wins that way.

Thank you College Wolf. I’m honored by your comments. And thanks to everyone else too. Without you, I’d just be muttering this stuff to myself.

I didn’t see any bad shot attempts. However, he simply didn’t make any. Maybe you should adjust your url??
