Larry Hughes gets contact lenses from Jhonny Peralta of the Indians

Jhonny Peralta Loans Contact Lenses To Larry Hughes

CLEVELAND (AP) - In a remarkable show of Cleveland sports solidarity, Cleveland Indians shortstop, Jhonny Peralta, has loaned his contact lenses to struggling Cleveland basketball player Larry Hughes.

Peralta, who struggled with his vision for several years, recently underwent LASIK eye surgery to permanently correct his acute myopia. “I tried to use the contacts, but it was too hard for me,” Peralta said. “And I had never seen a basketball player shoot as crappy as Larry Hughes, so I thought my contact lenses would help the team. If not, I can hook him up with my cousin Hector who manages a semi-pro basketball team in the Dominican Republic.”

Hughes, who is shooting just 34% from the field this season, shot an impressive 54% in his first game with the contact lenses. Hughes was thrilled with his newfound vision. “Once I got the contacts, the first thing I did was watch the instructional shooting video that the nice people at HLHPSTSMBS.com sent me for my birthday. I am so grateful for the tough love given to me by the Cavs fans around the world.”

Hughes’ teammates were also excited about his new contacts, “I was sick and tired of him calling me Sasha,” added Daniel Gibson. ”I’m just happy that Larry can tell me apart from that whining Serbian guy.”

LeBron James, who shouldered the team’s burden during Larry’s shooting slump, was almost in tears after the Lakers game. “FINALLY that slacker can start earning his paycheck. Sure, I’m happy to single-handedly defeat inferior teams like the Lakers, but it’s more fun telling Kobe that they were beaten by Mr. Glass. Now I’ve got smack-talk material against that verbal flopper for the next 2 months.”

here are some players that get payed less than larry.
For all of u gay hughes supporters, this is my main complaint about him: OVERPAID
    g. arenas, p. stojavic, c. boozer (i know), s. nash, j. richardson, kirk hinrich, josh howard, billups, hamilton, prince, DWIGHT HOWARD, t. parker, m. ginobli, b. bowen, rudy gay, m. okur, deron williams, and caron butler to name a few.

p.s.-good job larry, you might look good enough for a trade if u keep up 50% shooting for the next ten yrs.

This site does a good job at times with dealing with Larry Hughes poor shot selection but the guy who posted above is mad because Larry Hughes got a max contract?? I mean why does anyone care what players we could have for the same money, we do not have those players so the money is not even a factor. When Larry was signed it was for possibly the wrong reasons but it was the market price at the time. Just as those guys will get market next time they are up for free agency so did Larry Hughes. I mean we cannot go back in time and unpay the man just as we cannot go back and lock up Carlos Boozer for one more season and all of those good things. And all of the players you listed, how many of them were passed up by the Cavs and the Cavs had a chance to get?? If you want to complain about Larry and his poor shot selection so be it, but enough about the contract. Sorry you are a hard worker who does not get paid enough but do not get upset with those who do.

I called 20 points in the thread for the last game. So I was off by 4 points or so…oh well.

Other point guards around the league probably have all the Laker games circled on the calendars in their lockers. All you Cleveland fans get to see the brand of defense we’ve been playing out in LA all season. Nobody’s really noticed this because with Bynum in, we just score more points and don’t even worry about defense.

But yeah, if even Larry Hughes can look good against our perimeter defense, it’s going to be a long 2nd half of the season.

you think mehmet okur, is a decent player? haha that guy is a joke, the MOST LAZIEST person in the NBA and with his size, he should get atleast 18 and 10 a game

Larry made some clutch shots yesterday, he proved to me why he’s the best in the business. That inbounds pass at the end of the game was mad clutch.

  • 13 Shoot Boobie Shoot! // Jan 28, 2008 at 7:07 am

What can I say, Larry is playing much better. I’m really happy to see it. He’s like a whole new player since we sent him that DVD.

I still say I should be on the cavs. I can hit the 5 foot jumpshot and weigh 340pds

  • 17 Engin // Jan 28, 2008 at 9:57 am

Hey Cavs fans, you were so lucky against us yesterday. We made terrible mistakes in the clutch time and we lost the game, not that you won it.Larry was the decent hero,i should say,he was the factor when Kobe awkwardly missed the layup at the end.Besides,he made some clutch shots unfortunately(for us).
Anyways,it is one of the funniest web blogs i have ever seen.Keep up the good work!

  • 18 Gmoney // Jan 28, 2008 at 12:09 pm

I think we all WANT Larry to play well. We can agree on that. And I’m glad that, at least over the past two games, he has become a big time contributor on both ends of the court.

But I still want him to get traded.

  • 19 The Cavs // Jan 28, 2008 at 12:15 pm

    Engin,

We were not lucky to win against the Lakers. We are better. Lebron is better than Kobe. Illgauskas is better than Bynum. Hughes is better than… well, no one, but that’s besides the point. We won because we are better, so please stop acting like your Lakers lost the game, without the 25 free throws from the referees in the 4th quarter, you guys wouldn’t have even been in the game.

P.S. Colorado called, they want their virginity back…

  • 20 evan // Jan 28, 2008 at 1:46 pm

    engin,

First, GOOD TEAMS dont choke (lakers). Second, LeBron man-handles Kobe. Third, and finnaly, GET OUT OF THE CAVS’ WEBSITE! Whats Kobe without Bynum?…..NOTHING

  • 21 David // Jan 28, 2008 at 2:49 pm

Maybe our friend Larry has finally turned the corner….

  • 24 laker24 // Feb 2, 2008 at 11:13 pm

  • 25 clefan // Feb 4, 2008 at 7:47 pm

haha - I was hoping at least one Laker fan would respond :)

Nawww, the Lakers are a very solid team and now with Gasol, they could be even more dangerous.

  • 26 josh // Feb 11, 2008 at 6:50 pm

hey dumbass, peralta doesn’t wear contacts b/c he got laser eye surgery. god get your facts straight if you want to be credible.
