the biggest story of the game isn’t the fact that we were up 45 at one point or anything like that, but rather that LARRY HUGHES ATTEMPTED AND ALSO MADE TWO DUNKS
unreal
he needs to stop missing those zero foot jumpers though

LOL @ the Blah wikipedia definition….another solid post
3 Matthew // Jan 23, 2008 at 11:01 pm
Actually, he was 2-2 on dunks, 0-2 on layups, and 0-4 on shots further away.
Ladies and Gentlemen, I believe we’ve found Mr. Hughes’ range!

BLAH! —- I bet that.s what Larry Hughes hears when he practices with his shooting coach. Now when you go for a layup…. says Larry.s shooting coach.. (which is probably danny ferry) the conversation goes something like that….
blah blah blah BLAH BLAAAAAAH! blah blah???
blah blah…
try this website larry, maybe it.ll help you to make layups!

I couldn’t have said it any better myself.

Larry’s childhood fantasy comes true as he leaps through the air, slicing through defenders with the greatest ease, at the peak of his jump he is transformed; at this moment he is no longer simply a ballplayer, but rather a cold blooded assasin harboring nothing but the purest anger, anger which is unleashed upon the rim in the most explosive way, letting his competitors know in no uncertain circumstances that they have been vicitimized!

Why is it on a night (his bday no less) that the Cavs freaking explode on the Wizards, Hughes still only shoots 2-8????
Even Dwayne Jones shot a better % than our old friend Mr. Hughes….

I love this site! Makes me laugh all the time.
Here’s my take on Larry last night:
(trying to find the bright side) Hey, he tied his season high with 6 assists! … +33 while he was on the floor!
Seriously though, we need Larry to figure out how to be effective in some capacity for the Cavs to be successful in May/June. Last night was a step in the right direction. Mike Brown likes to stress hustle on defense, but the Cavs are most effective when they show the hustle on BOTH ends of the floor. The whole team (including Hughes) was hustling on OFFENSE last night. Cutting with purpose, early transition opportunities, sharp/smart passing, offensive rebounds … these are the things that create good shot opportunities, assists, and points in the paint. You could argue that LeGod takes a higher percentage of “bad” shots than Hughes, but he’s talented and strong enough to make them. Imagine if we ran an offense where they didn’t have to force so many bad shots …

FINALLY A SHOT LARRY CAN HIT! It isn’t like we haven’t known his range was point blank all along. When he was decent and scored all those points for the Wiz prompting us to pay him $12 million, he scored by “slashing” to the basket. This website expresses our frustration that since coming to Cleveland Larry has either (A) been hurt, or (B) taken really terrible shots that everyone (probably including Larry) knows he is going to miss. Here’s a formula since Mike Brown is unwilling to bench Larry (except in critical fourth quarter situations when the game is on the line) STOP TAKING SO MANY BAD SHOTS! “Hustle on D, pass to Lebron, Boobie, and Z, and every so often when you get a clear path to the basket, hit a point blank shot that you can’t possibly miss.

Boobie just summed it all up…

Has it ever occured to you that Hughes doesn’t pick bad shots, he just can’t shoot. He’s a 41% shooter on his career at shooting guard and he’s not Allen Iverson. I think your website should be

a shot that doesn’t go in can also be defined as a bad shot, since it does not accomplish its goal, which is to go through the basket.
HAH!

Larry should be taking shooting lessons from Z.
It would be interesting if Larry was a rookie this year and put up these kind of numbers. He would be sent to the NDBL so fast that the ink of his latest tattoo wouldn’t have the chance to dry.

2-8… those two were both dunks. I was sitting right under the cavs first half basket and when he came out and missed the first two shots of the game i was ripping him a new one. Late in the game when he dunked twice some guy looked back at me because i was ripping on him earlier. I just mouthed “2 for 8″

First time commenter here but love the site. Is there anyway Washington will take Hughes back? If there ever was a time to try, it might as well be now after Larry played his best game of the season against his former team.
And how come his head, well his whole body, looks so small compared to the hoop?
16 Mike // Jan 24, 2008 at 10:51 am
D-Jones hair can shoot better then Larry.
17 Gmoney // Jan 24, 2008 at 12:10 pm
Here you go, Bill (Eric Snow)…
I’m pretty sure that the only two Cavs that missed shots last night were your man-crush and apparently your new identity.

Dear Larry,
I came across this website and saw the complete disdain the Cleveland fans had for your lackluster ability to to put the rock in the hoop. If you need some pointers, give me a holler; I know plenty about shooting things.
Best Regards,
Jayson Williams

I loved hearing announcers Fred & A.C. stick up for ole’ Hughsie as he fired up a 3 that wasn’t within 3 feet of the rim “…what a great pass inside”.
…yeah right - we all know better.
20 rick // Jan 24, 2008 at 5:17 pm
Didn’t care for the blahs, Hughes managed to look mediocre on a night when the rest of the team couldn’t miss. Golden opportunity missed for the site…
21 Nemy // Jan 24, 2008 at 5:52 pm
Sasha Pavlovic is out 6-8 weeks. Uh oh, this means more Larry. He’ll probably average a double-double (10+ turnovers, 0-10 FG%) while Larry is out.

I checked the site to see if you heard of the rumor (I think Ric Bucher is pushing it) that the Blazers wanna deal Jack and contracts for Larry Hughes. I love the site, so I hope you aren’t getting your hopes up too much. Hughes has 0.000000 chance of being a Blazer, because of MANY reasons that have nothing to do with his contract. But, as well, his contract sucks.
The Blazers are set to have max-money levels of cap space in 2009, and I’m not too sure if they think Hughes is the best they can get…
In fact, just burning 20 million dollars for heat gives you more than Hughes provides, and you don’t have to force feed minutes and shots to someone guaranteed to miss and suck. GOD Larry Hughes is awful.
It’s crazy. This site is perfect.
Everytime Hughes bricks a 20 foot jumper, an orphan dies and goes to Hell. I don’t make the rules, I’m just the messenger. It becomes more and more important every day that Hughes stops shooting, as we are running out of orphans and that is sad

Not a comment about this post, but why is Larry featured in practically every upcoming game advertisement the team runs in the Plain Dealer? The thought of watching a 2-8 or 4-14 performance doesn’t make me want to run out and buy a ticket.

Here’s a quote from Larry Thompson from Inside the NBA on SI.com. The topic is players who need to step up over the second half.
“Larry Hughes, Cavaliers: He’s far too good to continue shooting a career-low 33.5 percent.”
I guess the secret is out.
