Boy, that was a nice victory! Why didn’t you say anything about him being in there in clutch time. What about that nice steal he had on parker?

Bill, that WAS a nice victory! I couldn’t agree more. But you should know by now, this site focuses on Larry Hughes taking bad shots. If you are looking for a site that goes in-depth on Larry’s crunch time play or his defensive steals, I recommend these sites:

Man… did you see Hughes first shot? That CLANG was heard around the world!
CLLLLLAANNNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGG! and there was some feedback on Manu.s microphone, ouch that hurt my ears!
4 Kerri // Jan 18, 2008 at 11:31 am
The clang (or is it klang?) of the first missed shot shook the foundation of my house!
It makes you wonder… did Mike Brown diagram that play just to get Larry out of the game as fast as possible? The quicker Larry can miss a few jumpshots, the easier it is to bench him and get a shooter in there…

Here’s a funny story for you- I logged on here early this morning and read the recap of game #38 thinking it was last night’s game. I didn’t realize until the part about Larry not playing in OT that I was reading the Memphis game highlights. It pretty much is the same thing every night.
Yes Bill, it was a great win, and yes Bill Larry Hughes had two very nice steals. But Bill Devin Brown had as many assists (4) in 14 minutes of action last night than Larry Hughes (starting point guard) has had for us in the previous 2 games (also 4).

My favorite moment in the game was midway through the 3rd. On the heels of missing both of his shots in the 3rd (one of them a blocked layup [kitten alert!]) Hughes finally hits a shot from the top of the key — which as everyone here knows is about the only spot on the floor he has an chance of scoring from anyway. Reggie Miller (who has clearly attended the Bill Walton School of Pathetically Overstated Color Commentary), says this:
“… and now Larry Hughes is starting to warm up!”
It’s a testament to how cold Hughes’ shot is, when just about anytime he doesn’t hoist up a brick qualifies as “heating up.” It’s also proof that Reggie is just talking out his ass. Of course, we already knew that since the Bill Walton School of Pathetically Overstated Commentary Cirriculum clearly includes the following classes:
* Stating the Obvious
* Stating the Obvious Again and with More Enthusiasm
* Stating the Obviously Incorrect (aka, Talking Out One’s Ass)
* Making a Big Stink about Things No One Gives a Damn About
Secondly, did anyone else notice that the Refs swallowed their whistles when it came to Euro-floppers Varejao and Oberto? Not only did their numerous flops not get any whistles, but both guys got literally bowled over twice in the 2nd half, in what were obvious charging / loose ball fouls, and no whistles. No whistles! It’s as if the refs got together at some point and said “Know what? Any time those guys hit the ground, we’re swallowing our whistles!” It’s about time really. I’m sick of floppers. Not that I think the NBA should be played like a football game, but having a bunch of oversized goofy-lookin’ white guys falling over with their arms flailing every time they get grazed by a gust of wind isn’t exactly what I call entertainment either.

Congrats on the mention in Yahoo! Sports. Apparently the bricks are getting louder because more people are noticing. Anybody else frustrated by the TNT announcers continually talking about the Cavs needing a guy who can drain shots when Lebron dishes? What about Daniel Gibson? He’s 3rd in the league in 3pt %! I really wish announcers would do their homework.
8 allthingshoops.com // Jan 18, 2008 at 12:11 pm
I need to write a columm about getting Daniel Gibson in the Rookies-Sophmore game and the 3pt contest. I seriously think the Cavs would be below .500 if it wasn’t for his shooting. I loved the haiku by the way. I wanted to post it on my blog. Keep up the good work.

Someone please answer this for me:
WHERE THE FUCK IS BIZARRO LARRY???
10 Kimpy // Jan 18, 2008 at 12:15 pm
Is it any wonder to these days why the Cavs are always on a very sluggish start? Larry Hughes taking two bad shots in the first and a half minute and in between dribbling aimlessly in between thereby suffocating any ball movement. How about starting Devin Brown in place of HughesLESS to give the CAvs a jack rabbit start?
11 Bill // Jan 18, 2008 at 12:26 pm
Wow you guys crack me up! Larry has been a great attribute to the Cleveland Cavs. He is one reason why they are winning! One day you guys will open your eyes and see what he has to offer!
12 greatgoo // Jan 18, 2008 at 12:47 pm
Lone - I’m glad you mentioned that statement by Reggie Miller. I laughed when he said it. Highlight of the game.
Bill/Larry Hughes - I hate you so much.

Can I get a tryout with the Cavs?
I’ll work for half of what Hughes makes and guarantee a FG percentage of at least 30%!

What happened to you?

Here are the highest paid players in the NBA. Someone who wears glasses and owns a cool calculator should cross reference this list with these players’ PER ratings. It could be possible that Hughes is worst player in the NBA in relation to his output. Hughes’ PER is 7.96 while Ben’s Wallace’s is 11.98. For contrast, LBJ’s PER is 30.2. Not only is LeBron producing at almost 4 times the rate of Hughes, but LBJ only makes about 9% more money than Hughes.

Wow that means Larry Hughes is not only a great player he is a great businessman. He knows what he has to do to get victories for the team and he doesn’t care about putting up stud numbers because he doesn’t have too, he knows who is on his team and what he needs to do.
18 Paul // Jan 18, 2008 at 3:46 pm
Bill - you sound way too much like Bill Walton. Normally when you pay someone compliments it helps to be specific. Why is Larry Hughes a “great player”? What does he do to “get victories for the team”? What does he “have to offer”?
19 Darien // Jan 18, 2008 at 3:55 pm
Bill - well you’re right that he somehow squeezed 12 million dollars out of the Cavs, but where is he getting that value from? “He knows who is on his team”? Yeah, LeBron is on his team and is basically the only reason the Cavs are where they are right now. LeBron is dying for some help and people need to step up. Hughes isn’t doing anything that people can measure against his pay cheque, so what he needs to be doing is stop killing kittens with his missed layups and wretched shooting choice.
20 Seriously, dude, stop shooting // Jan 18, 2008 at 4:07 pm
Bill, I hope you are kidding about everything in your post except that Larry is a great businessman. Sometimes when my father asks me about the previous day’s Cavs game, I like to answer, “Well, they (insert ‘won’ or ‘lost’) and Larry Hughes made (insert number of field goals made) more shots than I did last night.” To clear up any confusion, I do not play in the NBA. Another point to be made is how many games Hughes misses because of injury, sending his regular season per game pay of over $146,000 dollars down the toilet.
“Hey Dad! I played as many minutes in the NBA as Larry Hughes did from November 15th through December 7th!”
21 jonathan // Jan 18, 2008 at 8:05 pm
i vote to ban bill from this site.

Larry Hughes: point guard?
Does he rebound or make plays?
Send him to D-league.

Whew!!! Nice win.. why are there many larry hughes website in this world?
24 reasat // Jan 19, 2008 at 1:39 am
lol this site is funny! yo but larry hughes isnt as bad as ppl think he is. hes still good enough to play in the nba. hes just offensively limited. i dont think hes worth the contract hes playing for, but thats danny ferry’s fault. idk if any team would want larry and his contract. idk but i actually think imma better shooter than hughes lol. at least he plays solid d. i dont get y he takes so many lousy shots lol.
25 Boomstick // Jan 19, 2008 at 7:34 am
Great site!! This is long overdue. Reggie Miller’s line was classic (I sat up on my couch and almost choked when he said it). My only question is why all the focus on the bad shots (and volume of them). What about the horrible ball handling, jr. high passing skills, Randy Moss (when I feel like it) Defense, and when did the dude forget how to jump? Has he dunked at all this year?
26 rashard // Jan 19, 2008 at 7:42 am
Bill!!!!!!! What the hell is wrong with you?? Larry Hughes SUCKS!! Either get it through your fcking head or get the fck off of this site!!! Also bill, you said that he knows what he has to do to get victories. For the cavaliers to get victories Larry Hughes has to STOP SHOOTING!!!!!!!!!!! so then if he knows what he needs to do why isn’t he doing it??? Daniel Gibson takes 3 less shots per game than Larry Hughes, and i think we would all agree (except for Bill) that Daniel Gibson is a MUCH BETTER shooter.
27 Lone // Jan 19, 2008 at 8:38 am
Boomstick, yeah! I was starting to wonder if it was just me, or does Larry Hughes look like a 14 yr old kid pretending like he’s a basketball star? Seriously. His layup form is lacking: the ball is way over-exposed and his timing seems almost non-existent (and he can’t jump anymore). His dribble looks sloppy and amateurish; he often carries the ball too high and holds a stiff posture, so he has no penetration ability at all. He has no on-court vision, his passing is mechanical and predictable, and I’m not sure he’s even capable of doing bounce passes. It’s a complete mystery to me how Larry ever put up 20 a game. Have the injuries devastated his game so much?

I was just wondering, does Hughes wear the sleeve for medical purposes ? I know AI does… maybe to make some sence of this, he hurt his arm and it completely messed up his shot and he STILL hasen’t found it.
I’m not sticking up for Hughes, as every day I pray we trade him (hell, Darko for Hughes straight up sounds like a hell of a deal nowadays!). Just trying to make sence out of how good he was, to how horrible he is.
30 Seriously, dude, stop shooting. // Jan 20, 2008 at 6:15 pm
Larry shoots! Front rim.
Lebron quietly cringes.
So does Eric Snow.
Is an abortion
Worse than his shot selection
The answer is no.
Waterboard me, please.
If I say that his contract
Has helped LeBron James.
My stat of the day

Does shit stack this high?

If I was rich, like real rich, i’de pay back the Cavs al the money that Larry got from his contract, just to stop hearing everybody crying so much on how much Larry is over payed, matter fact I’de give give this money to Cleveland Cavaliers to sign me as a free agent for 1 season…I bet i could make my dream come true, I’d work hard, play harder, if the contract is not accepted by the Cleveland Cavaliers, then i would give myself as a present to Mr. Larry Hughes, because his birthday is near..would you take me Larry??? besides that I am your biggest fan, you can hire me
i’ll be happy to just be your personal butler
what do you say huh? give me a sign i swear i’m not gonna dissapoint you.I’m 23 year old, this would be a great gift for you, think about it, hey Larry you’ve just recieved a baller as present, sounds nice huh, peace
