judging by the shot chart, the answer is clear…larry should only be taking shots near the free throw line, where he’s shooting 86%. no more threes, no more lay-ups, no more nothing! only shoot from the line to the edge of the circle.

Lebron’s speeding ticket?
101mph in a Benz’ is just like 55mph in an Impala. No sweat.

Can someone please tell me why we pay this guy $12 mil a year to sit on the bench in the 4th & OT???
Ferry’s next big contract is going to to the kid that didn’t throw out the little red basket at chipotle…

You guys are a bunch of haters, why can’t you just be happy that the cavs are winning!

You guys are a bunch of haters, why can’t you just be happy the cavs are only winning half their games despite having the best player in the world on their roster, and no chance of improving the team because of contracts like Larry Hughes’?
8 Bill // Jan 16, 2008 at 10:13 am
Okay what was the cavs record without Larry Hughes? He doesn’t do anything for them at all, right? There are other things a player can do besides score.
9 greatgoo // Jan 16, 2008 at 10:22 am
Bill & Rick - you guys are a bunch of morons if you truly think Larry Hughes doesnt effect this basketball team in a negative way. He makes a large amount of money ($146,342.49 per game) for being a well BELOW AVERAGE basketball player (33% shooting). Bottom line is Larry doesnt earn his money. If we had any other player in his price bracket we would be a much better team. The cavs will NEVER EVER win the finals with the team they have now.
PS - Is Larry is so good and valuable to the team how many points did he have in the 4th qrt and OT?

Ok Bill-
You’ve now left 3 different comments, one saying we’re haters. Another calling us losers.
In your most recent comment you say “There are other things a player can do besides score.” Now that’s a great point.
So let’s have a look:
Larry is our starting point guard. What would we want out of a starting point guard? I would want him to run the offense and distribute the ball. How does Larry’s stats look in that department?
So far this season, he’s averaging:
2.2 assists per game
2 turnovers a game
But wait, you might say he’s not a true point guard, give him a break! He’s a “scorer”.
Well, he’s shooting 33% this year as a “scorer”. If everyone thinks he’s a great scorer, wouldn’t you expect him to be good at…. shooting the baskball??? He is bad at shooting. The stats do not lie.
And then you’ll say “but he got a lot of rebounds last night”.
Well he’s averaging 3 rebounds a game. If you want to pay your starting point guard $12 mil a year to get 3 rebounds a game and stink up the court, then you can have it.
If you’re convinced he provides all of these intagibles, then why does he sit the bench in the most cruical parts of the games (4th qtr and OT)?????
It’s hard to make the claim that we are winning because of Larry’s contributions when he sits out when it counts. If he had played the 4th quarter and OT and contributed, I might think otherwise.

“Can someone please tell me why we pay this guy $12 mil a year to sit on the bench in the 4th & OT???”
Better this scenario and win than pay him $12 mil a year to play in the 4th & OT and contribute to a loss.

greatgoo , you are the moron if you could not recognize rick’s sarcasm

You are dead on with all your observations!! I gave you a shout out on my site, I hope you can do the same. I agree with you that Mike Brown don’t have alot of plays, but I hate to bash the guy because he was so nice and gracious when I met him. The Cavs need to buy out Hughs, and I can think of several destinations where he can go. I will probably blog about it here shortly.

How do you know that you suck?
When Damon Jones is stealing your crunch time minutes.
15 rick // Jan 16, 2008 at 12:43 pm
Um, great goo? Mine was sarcasm. It’s where you appear to be saying one thing but…oh never mind.
16 rick // Jan 16, 2008 at 12:48 pm
Bill, the Cavs’ record without Larry Hughes this year is 7-7. Of course all of those games were played without Andy Varejao too.
17 Bill // Jan 16, 2008 at 1:23 pm
Were you guys this hard on Eric Snow too when he was a point guard? He really didn’t create alot of shots? and he also couldn’t make alot of shots? Mike Brown made a coaching decision last night to sit him out but why aren’t you talking about the game a couple of nights ago where he made a clutch lay-up and he made someclutch free throws and played some great D. I understand what you are saying about him not shooting well but give it time and you will see he is worth the money.
18 jonathan // Jan 16, 2008 at 1:25 pm
the cavs will make a serious run now that you can see larry’s playing time is diminishing. also theres alot of talks of mike bibby coming to the rescue
19 Kimpy // Jan 16, 2008 at 1:25 pm
No wonder Andy Verajao wanted more money and geez, Daniel Gibson is not even earning a million. Larry Hughes earns 13 million and his butt is always on the bench where he can at least NOT hurt the team in crunch time. The funny thing is that hoisting and missing dumb shots has not stopped Hughes from doing it again the next game.
20 David // Jan 16, 2008 at 1:35 pm
Rob,
It’s called sarcasm… Did you see the line under that?
I was just trying to say, a guy who is making so much money should be able to carry a team in crunch time. Not sitting on the bench thinking about getting a late night tatoo after the game…
21 greatgoo // Jan 16, 2008 at 2:00 pm
Rick- My bad. I skimmed your message and obviously missed the sarcasm.
Bill - Are you Larry Hughes?
22 Brownsac // Jan 16, 2008 at 2:19 pm
Bill,
The big difference between Eric Snow and Larry’s suckitude is that Eric Snow knows not to jack up jumpers he can’t make, whereas Larry continues to bomb away, which kills our offense.
Also, Gooden might have the worst hands in the NBA.
23 Tyler // Jan 16, 2008 at 3:33 pm
Bill: There is a reason people didn’t rag on Eric Snow as much when he came. You are right that Eric doesn’t make a lot of shots nor create for others, but he did pass considerably better than Hughes, and he DID NOT SHOOT A LOT! Larry is just as bad a shooter, yet continues to shoot too much.
24 K // Jan 16, 2008 at 4:51 pm
Nobody ragged on snow because snow did his job. He was a point guard yes, but his primary job was to play defense. Larry on the other hand…well, he just sucks night after night
25 freddieboy // Jan 16, 2008 at 8:00 pm
I know it wouldn’t be as much fun, but did you ever think about doing a Donyell Marshall or Damon Jones site? You’re still dead nuts on this Hughes stuff. Just cuz you pay a guy $12 million a year doesn’t make him a $12 million a year player.
26 Gmoney // Jan 17, 2008 at 12:07 pm
greatgoo is right, “Bill” Hughes needs to realize that he is no Bizarro Larry.
