Good game Larry!
Or maybe I should say ”Average game Larry! But for you, that’s great!”
The good:
- The Cavs won
- He only took 11 shots
- He shot 45%
- He made 40% of his threes
- He got to the line for 4 FT attempts
The bad:
- He played 43 minutes and had just 2 assists. I’d expect more from our “starting point guard” but I suppose that’s just a ceremonial title
- He missed more shots than he made
- His plus/minus stat for the game was -4
- 3 turnovers
- He missed 2 more layups (kitten alert!)
- He is still settling for long jumpshots
LeBron James carried the team once again (according to the number crunchers at Elias Sports Bureau, LeBron is the first player in NBA history to record 31 points, 19 rebounds, four steals and three blocks in the same game). And the supporting cast of Varejao, Gibson, and Zydrunas had solid efforts. OK, Varejao played great. Even Mr. “I call myself the Greatest Shooter in the world, but I only shot 39% from the field last year”, Damon Jones had a decent game. Larry played decent defense, and on offense one could argue that he did more good than bad.
So the trend continues: If Larry keeps it under control and doesn’t sho0t 20% on 18 attempts, the Cavs seem to find a way to win (against crappy teams). I’m not convinced we’re in championship form, but this is progress.

Three turnovers and just two assist is already considered a good game - oh well , better to have crumbs than to have rotten crumbs. GEez, the Cavs standard of excellence is astonishing!

solid effort? give some credit where it’s due—varejao had the best game of his career a game after totally dateraping his leg in atlanta. we should take half of larry’s salary and give it to andy. dude is totally worth as much money as he wants, at least to our team.
also, i’m sure you’ve noticed this by now, but when larry hangs in the air a split second too long on his jumpshot, he misses 100% of the time. also, when he shoots from within 2 feet of the basket, he also misses 100% of the time.

you have to give it to larry hughes today, he might a clutch shot to give them the lead. and made 2 freethrows crunch time. imagine if he missed one of those free throws….

You’re right that this isn’t championship form by any means, but it’s pretty close to “Getting far in the Eastern Conference playoffs” form.
